Overview

Cozystack turns bare metal servers into a platform for spawning Kubernetes clusters, databases-as-a-service, virtual machines, load balancers and HTTP caching services via a native Kubernetes REST API. Packages are YAML files delivered by FluxCD, and installation uses talos-bootstrap over PXE or ISO. A web dashboard sits alongside the API for deploying applications.

Strengths and trade-offs

Strengths

  • Native Kubernetes REST API for clusters, VMs and databases
  • Bare-metal install via PXE or ISO using talos-bootstrap
  • Pre-configured dashboards and alerts per service instance
  • Packages are YAML delivered by FluxCD, so they can be edited

Trade-offs

  • Deliberately does not hide Kubernetes primitives behind a UI
  • Extending or integrating assumes Kubernetes and YAML fluency
  • Aimed at bare metal servers, so you supply and run the hardware
  • No pricing or support terms shown on the captured page
