Overview
Cloudflare runs a network in 335+ cities that sits in front of sites and applications, providing DNS, CDN, unmetered DDoS mitigation, WAF and SSL. The same network hosts serverless compute and storage — Workers, Durable Objects, R2, D1, KV, Queues — plus Workers AI inference. A Zero Trust platform (ZTNA, secure web gateway, CASB, DLP) covers users and devices from the same dashboard.
- Best for
- Teams wanting CDN, DDoS protection, serverless compute and Zero Trust access on one network
- Pricing
- Three separate lines: site plans at $0, $20/mo (annual) or $25/mo, $200/mo (annual) or $250/mo and custom Contract; Zero Trust free to 50 users then $7/user/month; compute and storage metered per unit, e.g. $0.30 per million Worker requests and $0.015/GB-month for R2.
- Runs on
- WebmacOS
Strengths and trade-offs
Strengths
- Free tier covers CDN, DNS, unmetered DDoS and Universal SSL
- Workers billed on CPU time consumed, not wall-clock time
- R2 object storage is charged without egress fees
- First 50 Zero Trust users free, then $7 per user per month
Trade-offs
- PCI DSS 4.0 and the uptime SLA start at the $200/mo Business plan
- Dozens of separately metered products make cost forecasting hard
- Zero Trust free tier stops at 50 users and 24-hour log retention
- Contract tier is quote-only, billed annually, with no public figures
