BenchRank vs G2
G2 (opens in a new tab) is the largest review-driven software marketplace. BenchRank is a measured ranking: one score per product, computed from the product’s own site. Payment affects delivery speed, never your score. Here is how the two differ on the things a vendor usually asks about.
| Dimension | BenchRank | G2 |
|---|---|---|
| How the ranking is made | One score out of 100 per product, measured by the same pipeline from the product's own site, documentation, pricing and changelog. Page speed and accessibility are among the dimensions. | User reviews combined with G2's own market-presence signals, weighted by G2 into its Grid. |
| What it costs a vendor to be listed | $49.00 USD one-off to enter the scoring queue. Refunded if the product is not accepted. No subscription. | A basic profile is free; vendor programmes and profile tiers are sold on subscription. |
| Can vendors pay for placement? | No. There are no sponsored rows, featured slots or boosts on any list. Payment affects delivery speed, never the score. | Sponsored placements are sold alongside the review-ranked lists. |
| Is the scoring public? | Yes. Every dimension and weight is listed on How we rank, and every profile shows its last refresh. | The Grid methodology is published; the exact weightings are G2's own. |
| Open to AI agents and crawlers? | Yes. llms.txt, JSON-LD on every page, a full sitemap and an RSS feed; crawlers are welcome. | Its robots.txt admits GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended and other AI crawlers to most pages, with a few paths excluded, and bars a list of scrapers outright. |
When G2 is the better choice
Use G2 when you want volume of buyer reviews, a badge programme and a sales channel, and your buyers already search there.
When BenchRank is the better choice
Use BenchRank when you want a measured score a buyer can trace back to your own site, and a listing that costs a one-off fee rather than a programme.
The two are not exclusive. Many vendors keep a review presence elsewhere and add a BenchRank score because it is the one number a buyer can check against the product itself.
