Overview

Webiny is an open-source, self-hosted CMS platform that ships with a headless CMS, website builder and file manager. Content models, APIs and workflows are defined in code, and an MCP server lets AI tools extend the platform itself. Built in TypeScript and React, it runs on serverless AWS infrastructure and delivers content to Next.js, Nuxt or any other frontend over GraphQL.

Best for
Development teams wanting a self-hosted, code-extensible headless CMS on their own AWS account
Pricing
Free Community edition, then self-hosted Business plans at $79, $299 or $599 per month (S/M/L); Enterprise is an annual subscription priced on request.
Runs on
Self-hostedCLI

Strengths and trade-offs

Strengths

  • Headless CMS, Website Builder and File Manager included
  • MIT-licensed open source, self-hosted, no vendor lock-in
  • Multi-tenant: many brands or customers from one instance
  • Extend models, APIs and workflows in code; MCP server included

Trade-offs

  • Self-hosted on AWS, so infrastructure cost is on top of the plan price
  • Free tier excludes RBAC, multi-tenancy and publishing workflows
  • SSO, audit logs and priority support are Enterprise-only
  • Business plans cap users at 8-40 and allow one production deployment
