Strengths and trade-offs

Strengths

  • AGPL-3.0 open source; self-host free or use managed hosting
  • Hosting priced per site or server, not per user
  • Covers accounting, stock, manufacturing, HR, payroll and POS
  • REST API plus low-code builder for forms, reports and workflows

Trade-offs

  • Frappe sells no implementation services; self-implement or hire a partner
  • Frappe states most small-business rollouts take 2 to 8 weeks
  • Country tax compliance may need partner work if not built in
  • Cheapest server tier has limited uptime guarantees and incident-only support
