Strengths and trade-offs
Strengths
- No cookies, so no consent banner; GDPR and CCPA compliant
- Open source and free to self-host
- Free tier: 100K events, 1 website, 6 months retention
- Data export via API or dashboard, stated as no lock-in
Trade-offs
- Session replays and heatmaps only on the $200/month Business plan
- Self-hosted version lacks email reports and the streaming API
- Hobby tier caps at 1 website and 6 months of data retention
- Events over the plan limit bill per event, so cost tracks traffic
