Strengths and trade-offs

Strengths

  • Free and GPL-licensed, with source tarballs published
  • Bundles NumPy, SciPy, SymPy, Maxima, GAP, FLINT and R
  • One Python-based language across the bundled packages
  • Runs online via CoCalc or SageMathCell without installing

Trade-offs

  • Community support only: Zulip, forums and Q&A; no paid support shown
  • Funded by donations and sponsorship, not by a commercial vendor
  • Online use depends on third-party hosts, CoCalc and SageMathCell
